Mass shooting at Clovis NM library leaves 2 people dead and 4 injured

Officials in Clovis, New Mexico have confirmed that at least two people were killed and four injured during a mass shooting at the Carver Public Library on Monday. in New Mexico. Two females and two males were taken to the hospital after the shooting.

The Clovis Police Department said that the shooter was captured and taken into custody. Police have not released a possible motive for the shooting.

"We had a call for a mobile active shooter. Officers made contact with the suspect, who immediately gave up and was taken into custody.

"Once we had finished that we immediately began giving care to wounded personnel.

"We are in the middle of this investigation.  This area is closed down," Clovis Police Chief Douglas Ford said.


"This is the last thing I wanted to do today. Two individuals have lost their lives. Four have been injured -- some severely.

"This is a big blow to our community. I want you to know that we are grieving for the families; our prayers and thoughts are continuously going out to them," Clovis Mayor David Lansford said.
