City of Amarillo to host TML Region II meeting on Friday

Mayor Ginger Nelson and the City of Amarillo will host the January 2018 Texas Municipal League (TML) Region II meeting on Friday, Jan. 12. Texas Panhandle Mayors, including Canyon Mayor Gary Hinders, will meet in the afternoon with several Texas legislative representatives to discuss steps on how Panhandle citizens and leaders may be more involved in serving on state boards and commissions as well as other ways the Panhandle can influence the laws and policies made in Austin.

“This is another way for leaders of the Texas Panhandle to have a shared vision,” says Amarillo Mayor Ginger Nelson. “Together we have a stronger voice – one we want to be heard across the state and beyond.”

The evening keynote speaker is Dr. Clyde Rivers who is the Founder and President of iChange Nations, a professional institution that builds statesmen by equipping, mentoring and training highly esteemed individuals who have the desire to change nations throughout the world. Dr. Rivers will speak on the Golden Rule Dialogue and how Panhandle leaders can create and implement positive change in their communities.

More than 130 individuals will be present for the evening keynote and take part in TML’s first meeting of 2018 for Region II.
