No. 4 Lady Buffs defeat Texas Woman’s University, 81-61


The number 4 ranked Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M continued their winning ways on Thursday night as they shot over 50 percent from the floor in a 81-61 Lone Star Conference win over the Pioneers of Texas Woman's University in front of over 600 fans at the First United Bank Center in Canyon.

West Texas A&M was led offensively by Deleyah Harris who went 8-of-14 from the floor including 2-of-4 from behind the arc with 20 points and seven rebounds followed by Lexy Hightower with 15 points.

Whitney Apari led the way for the Pioneers as she went 4-of-6 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free throw line with 13 points followed by Cienna Rodriguez with 11 while Apari grabbed five rebounds on the night.

WT finished the game going 29-of-56 (51.8%) from the floor including 8-of-20 (40%) from deep and 15-of-26 (57.7%) from the free throw line with 35 total rebounds (14 offensive, 21 defensive), 20 assists, 19 turnovers, two blocks and 16 steals in the win.

TWU went 22-of-48 (46.2%) from the field including 3-of-12 (25%) from behind the arc and 14-of-20 (70%) from the free throw line with 27 rebounds (10 offensive, 17 defensive), 17 assists, 27 turnovers, two blocks and 10 steals.
