Man killed after head on collision with AISD school bus

Thursday morning, Amarillo police were dispatched to the intersection of Bell Street and Sandie Drive on an accident involving a vehicle and a school bus.

The school bus had been northbound on Bell Street and was in the turning lane to go west on Sandie Drive. A white Ford Excursion, driven by David Scott Nunn, a 40 year old male, was south bound on Bell Street.

Witnesses say that Nunn was driving at a high rate of speed and weaving in and out of traffic.

Nunn drove into the turning lane where the school bus was setting and waiting to turn. The Excursion struck the bus head on. Nunn was transported to a local hospital and later died from his injuries.

Two passengers and the school bus driver were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Justice of the Peace Richard Herman has ordered an autopsy to be performed on Nunn.

The Amarillo Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating the accident.
