Lady Buffs now ranked number 3 in the country


The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M have jumped one spot to number three in the newest Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division II Top-25 Poll announced on Tuesday morning by the association's offices in Lilburn, Georgia.

The Lady Buffs have started off the 2017-18 campaign with a perfect record of 9-0. It marks the third time in the last five seasons that the Lady Buffs have won atleast their first seven contest, the 2015-16 team won their first 15 contests on the way to the South Central Regional Finals. The Lady Buffs are one of just 12 women's basketball teams in DII with an unbeaten record.

Ashland (10-0) remains atop of the poll as they picked up all 24 first place votes for a unanimous total of 600 points followed by Alaska Anchorage (575), West Texas A&M (543), Lubbock Christian (476), Indiana, Pa. (470), Carson-Newman (459), Drury (427), Bentley (422), Virginia Union (386) and Central Missouri (353) to round out the top ten. The South Central Region was represented by WT (3rd), Lubbock Christian (4th), Fort Lewis (16th) and Colorado Mesa (RV).

WT returns from an 11-day break as they travel to Bellingham, Washington to take part in the 2017 Viking Holiday Hoops Classic hosted by Western Washington University at Sam Carver Gymnasium. The Lady Buffs open the event on Monday, December 18th against Simon Fraser with tipoff set for 7:00 p.m. CT in Bellingham.
