Lubbock police looking for murder suspect

On November 26, just before 7:30 p.m., the Lubbock Police Deparment received multiple calls that a shooting had just occurred on Avenue V near 98th Street. Officers located a male gunshot victim on scene.

The victim, identified as 20-year-old Peter Caballero, was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased.

Investigators with the LPD Persons Crimes Unit responded to the scene. Through their initial investigation, it appears the incident began as a robbery.

The suspect met with a male in the area of 2200 99th Street for an exchange, possibly for an item posted to social media. At some point during the exchange, there was an altercation and the suspect fled the scene in a blue passenger car. Caballero began running after the suspect who had just robbed his friend.

Officers were advised that the suspect fired shots from the vehicle, striking Caballero on Avenue V near 98th Street.

LPD investigators have identified 19-year-old Prince Richards as the suspect in fatal shooting of Caballero.

There is currently an arrest warrant for murder issued for Richards. He is a black male, approximately 5'09", 150 pounds, and should be considered armed and dangerous.

If you see Richards, please call 911 immediately so we can send officers to the area. If you have information on where Richards might be staying or any other tips that could help investigators, please call Crime Line at (806) 741-1000.
