I-40 traffic stop leads to drug arrest


On Tuesday evening, a Potter County Sheriff’s Deputy pulled over a Chevrolet Avalanche on I-40 at Bushland for a defective tag light. The driver of the vehicle was 47 year old Donnie Wayne Yingling Jr from Walnut Grove California.

Upon approach to the vehicle to speak with Yingling, the deputy could smell the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Yingling admitted to a large amount of marijuana being in the vehicle.

Approximately 35 pounds of marijuana was found in the vehicle along with a loaded illegal shotgun, 2 baggies of heroin, and 1 bag of methamphetamine. Yingling was also found to have 4 felony warrants out of California for drugs and weapons.

Yingling was booked into the Potter County Detention Center on 6 felony charges as well as the 4 warrants.
