Texas border agents seize nearly $3M worth of narcotics, rescue over 50 illegal aliens this weekend


Texas border agents stopped four separate smuggling attempts that resulted in the seizure of cocaine, marijuana and 52 illegal aliens.

Late Friday night, agents assigned to the Falfurrias Checkpoint were conducting immigration inspections when a tractor trailer, driven by a Mexican national, approached the primary inspection lane. As agents made contact with the driver, a K-9 alerted to the cargo area of the trailer. Inside, agents discovered more than 80 pounds of cocaine valued at over 2.8 million dollars.

The following night, a tractor trailer, driven by a Cuban national, approached the primary inspection lane. As agents conducted their inspection, a K-9 alerted to the cargo area of the trailer. Upon investigation, agents discovered 33 illegal aliens and over 60 pounds of marijuana concealed inside.

Early Sunday morning, a tractor trailer, driven by a Mexican national, approached the primary inspection lane. During the immigration inspection, a K-9 alerted to the cargo area of the trailer. As a result, agents discovered five illegal aliens concealed inside.

Minutes later, a tractor trailer, driven by a United States citizen, was referred to secondary after a K-9 alerted to the cargo area. Fourteen illegal aliens were discovered concealed in the trailer.

The drivers of all four tractor trailers were arrested. All subjects are being processed accordingly.
