Senate rejects partial Obamacare repeal

The Senate has rejected a measure to repeal parts of former President Barack Obama's health law, dealing a serious blow to President Donald Trump and the GOP agenda. The final vote was 51-49.

Republicans John McCain, Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins joined the Democrats in voting down the measure.

The bribes embedded in Obamacare worked. Some Republican governors expanded Medicaid in their home states to access--temporarily--90% federal matching funds and to give citizens the illusion that some needy people were getting something for "free."

Progressives are sneaky, nefarious, and cynical as they seek to expand federal control over healthcare. Republicans need to fight fire with fire instead of being high-minded about it.

Obamacare is a disaster unfolding in front of our eyes. It will be one more debt straw that break's the camel's back of the hard-working U.S. taxpayer. We're very close to a point of no return, where more people who aren't working can seize control of the government and direct the earnings of a declining pool of workers into their own pockets.

Democrats have no interest in a bipartisan bill. Their price for working on anything would be more government control of healthcare, more government spending, more government taxation, more government debt, and less personal freedom. Moving into mid-terms, they would also want all of the credit for anything in which they participated. There is no bipartisan approach available, only capitulation.
