Gunman dead in Bronx hospital shooting: Several people wounded

The NYPD says the gunman at a New York City hospital is dead. Reports indicate several people were shot by the gunman, with at least one person killed.

More from Fox News:

A woman was killed at a Bronx hospital on Friday when a doctor opened fire at his former workplace, wounding six people before turning the gun on himself, police said.

The gunman, identified by police as Dr. Henry Bello, pulled out a rifle from under his white lab coat and shot multiple people at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital shortly before 3 p.m. He died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, cops said.

The shooting was an "isolated incident" and not related to terrorism, according to New York Mayor Bill de Blasio.

The fire system in the building was activated after the shooter tried to light himself on fire, New York Police Commisioner James O'Neil said. Bello was later found dead from the self-inflicted gunshot.

Authorities say Bello pulled a rifle from under his white lab coat and opened fire inside a New York City hospital, killing at least one person and wounding others before apparently taking his own life.

"I thought I was going to die," said Renaldo Del Villar, a 55-year-old patient who was in the third-floor emergency room getting treatment for a lower back injury when a doctor opened fire Friday at a Bronx hospital.
