DPS seize more drugs and cash during Panhandle area traffic stops

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized over seven pounds of cocaine and over five pounds of methamphetamine on Sunday, April 2, after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Carson County.

At approximately 2:08 a.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a 2015 Honda Civic traveling east on I-40 near Groom, for a traffic violation. A DPS canine unit was called to the scene and alerted on the vehicle. The Trooper then discovered cellophane-wrapped packages of methamphetamine and cocaine inside the vehicle. The methamphetamine is worth approximately $468,000 and the cocaine is worth approximately $432,000.

The driver, Jorge Hernandez, 31, of Phoenix, was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. Hernandez was transported and booked into the Carson County jail.

The DPS seized almost two pounds of heroin on Thursday, March 30, after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Carson County.

At approximately 7:11 p.m., a DPS trooper stopped a 2016 Nissan Rogue traveling east on IH-40 near Conway for a traffic violation. The trooper then discovered numerous latex-wrapped pellets of heroin underneath the rear passenger seat. The heroin is worth approximately $213,000.
The driver, Marvin Trampe-Chacon, 26, of Guatemala, was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. Trampe-Chacon was transported and booked into the Carson County jail.

The drugs allegedly were being transported from Los Angeles to Oklahoma City.

Troopers seized over $106,000 in U.S. currency on Thursday, March 30, after a DPS Trooper stopped a vehicle in Oldham County.

At approximately 2:10 p.m., a DPS trooper stopped a 2017 Ford Fusion traveling west on I-40 near Vega, for a traffic violation. A DPS canine unit was called to the scene and alerted on the vehicle. The trooper then discovered two large vacuum-sealed packages of U.S. currency and a small amount of marijuana inside the vehicle.

The driver, Adil Mojaddidi, 24, of Fremont, Calif., and passenger, Domonique Goodrum, 18, of Dallas, were arrested and charged with felony money laundering. Both suspects were transported and booked into the Oldham County jail.
The currency was allegedly being transported from Dallas to Los Angeles.
