7 people shot at Lubbock, Texas motel: Police looking for suspect

Investigators with the Lubbock Police Department Person Crimes Section are currently searching for a suspect involved in a shooting that sent multiple people to the hospital.

At approximately 11:40 p.m. Monday night, the Lubbock Police Department received calls referencing several gun shots being fired at the Villa Town Motel located at 5401 Avenue Q South Drive. When officers arrived they found multiple gunshot victims on a second story balcony.

Once it was determined the suspect had fled the scene and there was no longer a threat, the officer began to provide first aid to the victims. EMS arrived and a total of seven people were taken to the hospital with injuries.

Person Crimes investigators were called to the scene.

After questioning multiple people, investigators believe the suspect was at Copper Caboose prior to the shooting. When the male suspect exited the business, he got into a verbal altercation with a group of people standing on the second story balcony of the motel.

The altercation escalated and the suspect fired multiple shots toward the group of people on the balcony. The suspect then fled the scene in a car.

As of Tuesday morning, six of the victims are still in the hospital. The injuries appear to be non-life threatening, however some of the injuries are serious.

Right now investigators continue to question witnesses and victims to piece together what happened.

At this point, it appears there is only one suspect who fired shots.
