Two people dead after plane crash near Wellington

Two people are dead after a plane crash near Wellington, Texas on Saturday afternoon.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said that a 7GCBC Citabria plane lost control after taking off from Marian Airpack at around 2:20 pm. this afternoon, the plane took off from the Marian Airpark. The plan overturned and crashed into a field just south of the airport.

Killed in the crash were the pilot, Claton Miller, 28, of Wellington and his passenger Danna Wilhelm, 40, of San Angelo. Miller and Wilhelm were both pronounced dead on scene by Collingsworth County Justice of the Peace, Jo Rita Henard.

The National Transportation Safety Board is conducting an investigation into what caused the crash.
