APD investigating parking lot armed robberies

The Amarillo Police Department is investigating two armed robberies that occurred on parking lots in the last week.

On January 14th at 11:19 PM, APD officers received a call from a 21 year old man who reported that he had been robbed. The male had just arrived in the parking lot of the Midnight Rodeo when he heard a tap on his driver’s door window.

A Hispanic male holding a handgun was standing outside the vehicle door. The victim also saw another Hispanic male standing on the passenger side of his vehicle, holding what he thought was a shotgun.

The suspect told the victim to get out of the truck. The victim told officers that he got out of the truck and the suspect with the handgun fired it two times.

Officers have not determined if the suspect was shooting at the victim. The victim ran inside the midnight rodeo and called police.

The victim’s truck was taken during the incident and recovered on January 15th in the 100 block of south Western Street.

The suspects are described as Hispanic males in their twenties, wearing dark clothing, between 5’7” and 5’10” inches tall. They might have arrived on scene in a dark colored SUV.

On January 17th at 8:41 PM, APD officers were dispatched to a robbery at the Nantucket Apartments at 4343 Ridgecrest Circle.

The victim, a 39 year old man, had just arrived at the apartment complex in his vehicle. He was sitting in his car texting when the driver’s side car door opened.

A Hispanic male pointed a gun at the victim and demanded his wallet. The victim complied with the suspect and the suspect then ran off with a second subject that was standing behind him.

The suspect with the gun is a Hispanic male wearing dark clothing and a cover over his face. There is no description of the second male.
